The Hoover WH10600 air purifier with TiO2 technology comes in the form of an attractive sleek black tower which combines both HEPA filter and photocatalytic oxidation technology. This means that as well as removing air borne particles down to 0.3 microns, it’s also effective in killing microorganisms.

It’s suitable for small rooms up to 79 square feet. If you’re looking for an air purifier for a larger room, you’ll need to check out other brands on our website because this model is the most powerful one in the Hoover range. It’s a pity they don’t produce any models for larger rooms.

This is a very user friendly model with remote control and also intuitive push buttons on the top of the unit. It can detect the level of airborne particles and if set to auto will adjust the fan speed as necessary. An LCD display on top of the unit changes color with the purity of the air – blue (good quality), orange (poor quality) and red (bad quality).

An LED indicator tells you when it’s time to replace the HEPA filter.

The Hoover WH10600 air purifier uses 5 stages in its purification process:

• rinsable foam pre-filter to collect the coarser dust which would clog up the HEPA filter
• charcoal filter helps remove odors
• HEPA filter which removes 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns
• Photocatalytic oxidation using ultra-violet light and a titanium dioxide coated screen – this process produces powerful oxidants that destroy gases or volatile organic compounds and microorganisms. It removes 99.9% of germs, You can switch it on or off.
• Ionizer – produces negative ions which go out into the room and cause airborne particles to stick together and either stick to surfaces or fall to the ground.

The model has three fan speeds. A fantastic feature of this model is that it has IntelliSense Control system senses the air quality and automatically adjusts fan speed appropriately for the dust level. This is the auto setting. You can, of course, also manually adjust the fan speed.

It’s great for a small kitchen, small bedrooms or offices or a nursery. Actually, the room size is based upon the clean air delivery rate (CADR) for tobacco smoke. The rate is significantly better for pollen and dust. If they are your concern and tobacco smoke is not a problem, then it would do for a room size up to 118 square feet.

However, it’s always better to get a model rated higher than your room size because the CADR is for the quickest fan speed which most people don’t use a lot of the time since it’s also the noisiest setting on air purifiers.

The Clean Air Delivery Rate is certified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers after testing in independent third party laboratories. For the Hoover WH10600 Air Purifier the results are :

AHAM specify that the tobacco smoke rating should be at least two thirds of the room size in square feet. This means this purifier is rated for a room of  79 square feet. This model is actually significantly more effective for dust and pollen than tobacco smoke.
