If you want a quiet air purifier, the Honeywell 18155 is definitely one to consider.  Its  advanced air flow design makes for ultra quiet and high speed operation. It has true HEPA filtler which is permanent and easy to clean with a vacuum. It’s also very reasonably priced.

It has a carbon pre-filter which keeps the bigger particles from clogging up the HEPA filter and also absorbs household odors. Its Intelli-Check indicators let you know when the HEPA filter is ready for cleaning and also when the carbon pre-filter is due for replacement.

As well as the usual cat dander, tobacco smoke, pollen and dust, this model has been shown to remove up to 100% of the bacteria, germs and mold spores.

The Honeywell 18155 has a true HEPA filter which is permanent. The filter is cleanable with a vacuum and doesn’t need regular replacement like other models. An Intelli-Check indicator lets you know when it needs cleaning. However, although it’s said to be permanent, its efficiency may decrease with time and there may come a time when you want to replace it but it may last years rather than months.

The filter removes at least 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns including dust, pollen, tobacco smoke and cat dander. The HEPA filter has been tested and shown to trap and collect airborne bacteria, germs and mold spores with an average reduction of 99.93% but up to 100%.

The pre-filter is carbon and as well as absorbing household odors, it prevents the larger airborne particles reaching the HEPA filter and clogging it up. An Intelli-Check indicator lets you know when it’s time to replace the pre-filter which should be at least every three months. The replacement pre-filter is the Honeywell 38002 Enviracare Universal Replacement Pre-Filter.

This model has an air change rate of 6 per hour.

The Honeywell 18155 has three fan speeds: low, medium and high. It’s best to keep it on high unless the noise is disturbing you so that you get the most purification. When you are out of the room, it’s a good idea to switch it onto high.

On high setting, you may have to turn up the volume a bit on your television. There’s always some noise with air purifiers but this is definitely one of the quieter models.

The quietness of this model is one of the most common comments about it. As one reviewer points out, it isn’t silent and, in fact, this is true of any air purifier. If you want a silent one, you may as well give up looking now.
