Winix Plasmawave air cleaners are distinguished by their Plasmawave technology which uses a corona discharge to create positive and negative ions in the air which then combine with water vapor in the air to create hydroxyl radicals. Hydroxyl radicals are highly unstable and so seek out atoms from other molecules. By stealing atoms from polluting molecules such as allergens, volatile organic substances and microorganisms, they destroy the molecules rendering them harmless. It’s basically the same technology as used by Sharp’s Plasmacluster.
